Богдан Волинський, Олег Дроздов. Розмови про архітектуру

The book "Conversations about architecture", written by architect Bohdan Volynskyi during a series of meetings with architect Oleg Drozdov, which took place several years ago in Kharkiv, will be published by ist publishing in February 2022.

Under the yellow cover that outlines the light contour of the window, Drozdov talks about a house with a garden and urban space, relief and light, sacred and profane, flesh and weather, market, politics and architectural competitions, professional community and education. The questions discussed by the architects summarize the first twenty years of Drozdov's architectural practice, and also become an attempt to talk about topics that continue to gain importance in their practices and architecture today.

Oleg Drozdov says: "Work on this book began quite a long time ago, when there was a desire to sum up the interim results: different opinions, different paths that I and my colleagues followed in architecture during the first active twenty years. Bohdan Volynskyi was interested in the opportunity to undertake such a project, and the entire agenda discussed in the book belongs entirely to him. The conversation went according to plan and often turned to related topics. For me personally, this book is an opportunity to think about the future much more systematically."

Bohdan Volynskyi, in turn, talks about his motivation: "I created this book because I love architecture and want to share it. The text seems important to me for two reasons. First of all, this is the story of one of the main heroes of the modern Ukrainian architectural scene, which has not been told before and even more so written down. Secondly, I have made the list of topics so wide and complete that the book will be an excellent guide to the world of architecture for those who are not familiar with it; and for those who are familiar, it will serve as an excellent checklist for revising one's own experience."
