In 1868, a great fire nearly burned down Stanyslaviv (now Ivano-Frankivsk). The cause? Cooking plum jam, or as locals call it, "marmulyada", over an open fire. Today, the city honors this tradition with the annual Stanyslaviv Marmulyada Festival.
