Time Out of Joint
Regal Gumm is a local superstar. In a small provincial town, everyone knows him by face. He is the multiple winner of the contest "Where will the little green man be next?". Regl has a special gift for solving puzzles: from among thousands of possible options, he always chooses the right one. Sometimes it seems to him that the whole world revolves around him. However, something in this world does not hold together. People behave unnaturally, and things seem artificial. And in general, time has become somewhat deranged - a completely different life, deliberately hidden from it, seeps through the cracks of the usual coherent reality. Regal decides to find out the truth at any cost, even though some invisible force controls his every move. But will he succeed? And how is it all related to the war that has been going on for many years between the Earth and the colonists on the moon? "Time Out of Joint" (1959) is one of the most famous novels of the American science fiction writer Philip K. Dick (1928-1982), in which he addresses the central theme of his work - the nature of reality and the impossibility of its objective perception.
