Breakfast with the Borgias - DBC Pierre

The setting is a faded, lonely boarding house on the Suffolk coast. It is dark and thick fog outside. The phone does not work in the house and there is no Internet. No hope of communication with the outside world.

Ariel Panek appears, a promising young scientist who is traveling from the United States to a conference in Amsterdam. Due to the forced landing of the plane in Stansted, he is put up for the night in a boarding house. Confused and tired after the flight, he meets a family that seems to be celebrating some kind of event. But this celebration is unusual. And the family itself is unusual.

The evening turns into night, and Panek realizes that he has fallen into an insidious web of other people's secrets and lies, into a Sartrian hell from which he may not find a way out...
