The monograph is based on research work conducted within the framework of the art studies program of the Sorbonne University, Paris.
The book reveals the multiple sources and experimental nature of the photographic creativity of representatives of one of the brightest phenomena of Ukrainian modern art. In the Soviet underground, under the ruins of the empire or on the Kyiv barricades, Kharkiv photography has been defined by irony, a critical look at the medium and collective action for more than half a century.
The design and the first edition were created with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
